Marsala Superiore Oro Riserva Vigna La Miccia 2018 Marco De Bartoli was born in 1985 from the combination of tradition and new oenological technologies. The 12 hectares of vineyard dedicated to this wine have thirty-year-old Grillo plants in Contrada Samperi, in Marsala. The harvest takes place early in September, with manual selection of the grapes; this is followed by a gentle pressing, natural settling, and fermentation with indigenous yeasts at controlled temperature, in stainless steel tanks. The aging then continues for 4 years, in constantly filled new French oak barrels.
Marsala Superiore Oro Riserva Vigna La Miccia semi-dry by Marco De Bartoli presents in the glass with an intense amber color. On the nose, it is broad, with sensations ranging from toasted nuts and almonds to chestnut honey, from cocoa bean to barley sugar, from coffee beans to myrtle, thyme, and laurel. The sip is sweet and enveloping, balanced by cedar freshness and sapidity, long on caramelized fruit. To be enjoyed slightly chilled, not cold, accompanied by blue or aged cheeses, or brioche bread and foie gras.
